It is the NFL offseason which means it is time for the draft. In this article, I will give you my mock draft as of April 13th. I will give you the team, the player, and why I think it is the best pick for the team. (NOTE: By the time this article has been released the first round of the draft has happened. You can see the results at the bottom of this article).
Draft Code-
QB- Quarterback
RB- Running Back
WR- Wide Receiver
TE- Tight End
OT- Offensive Tackle
DT- Defensive Lineman
EDGE- Edge Rusher
LB- Linebacker
CB- Cornerback
S- Safety
Jacksonville Jaguars- Trevor Lawernce (QB-Clemson): The chance that this pick doesn’t happen is less than one percent.
New York Jets- Zach Wilson (QB-BYU): With the Jets trading Sam Darnold many believe that Zach Wilson will be next off the board
San Francisco 49ers- Justin Fields (QB-Ohio State): When the 49ers traded up many believed that this meant they were drafting a quarterback. Some speculated Mac Jones but I believe if they traded up they are going to pick Justin Fields.
Atlanta Falcons- Mac Jones (QB-Alabama): The Falcons are not trading down or picking Pitts, they are getting their Matt Ryan replacement. I believe that Mac Jones has a little more potential than Trey Lance and with a year behind Ryan, I believe that Mac Jones will become the new Falcons quarterback in 2022.
Cincinnati Bengals- Penei Sewell (OT-Oregon): The reason Joe Burrow got hurt was that he didn’t have good protection and after his injury, the Bengals are going to do everything in their power to protect their quarterback.
Miami Dolphins- Kyle Pitts (TE-Florida): Miami needs a playmaker and they will get the best non-quarterback in this stacked draft class.
Detroit Lions- Ja’Marr Chase (WR-LSU): The Lions lost their top two receivers and now they will get a guy who will make an impact and help Jared Goff.
Carolina Panthers- Rashawn Slater (OT-Northwestern): The Panthers traded for Sam Darnold for a reason and now they will get someone to protect him.
Denver Broncos- Trey Lance (QB-North Dakota State): They tried Drew Lock out for two seasons and it wasn’t a success. Now they will get some raw talent and hopefully they can shape it into a masterpiece.
Dallas Cowboys- Patrick Surtain II (CB-Alabama): The reason the Cowboys were so bad last year wasn’t their offense but their defense. Now they will pick up one of the best defensive players in this draft class.
New York Giants- Jaycee Horn (CB- Virginia Tech): While the New York Giants are tempted to take a playmaker like Smith or Waddle they have decided that defense is a priority and I agree. That is why with the 11th the Giants will take a solid cornerback in Jaycee Horn.
Philadelphia Eagles- DeVonta Smith (WR-Alabama): The Eagles traded back and it pays off. They gained a few draft picks and will pick up the Heisman Trophy winner to help Jalen Hurts.
Los Angeles Chargers- Christian Darrisaw (OT-Virginia Tech): They have their quarterback now and just like the Bengals they will pick up a guy who will help protect Herbert.
Minnesota Vikings- Micah Parsons (LB-Penn State): While Waddle, Thielen, and Jefferson sound nice, the Vikings need help on defense and Parsons is one of the best defensive players in this draft.
New England Patriots- Jaylen Waddle (WR-Alabama): The Patriots are sticking with Cam Newton for at least one more year and now they will pick a wide receiver who will hopefully help Cam and the Patriots return to the playoffs.
Arizona Cardinals- Alijah Vera-Tucker (OT-USC): The Cardinals just signed James Connor so they don’t need a running back, and a big reason that Kyler Murray had to scramble so much last year was because of the people protecting him. The Cardinals will pick up a good player and Vera-Tucker doesn’t have to travel that far from LA to Phoenix.
Oakland Raiders- Teven Jenkins (OT-Oklahoma State): The Raiders basically cut and traded their whole offensive line so now they will pick up a young replacement to help Derek Carr.
Miami Dolphins- Najee Harris (RB-Alabama): I know running backs usually fall to the second round, but with many running back needy teams before the Dolphins’ next pick, I think they go ahead and pick up Najee Harris.
Washington Football Team- Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (LB-Notre Dame): The Football Team has FitzMagic and a big reason Ryan Fitzpatrick got that nickname was because of his amazing comebacks. One of the reasons for a comeback is a poor defense and now the Football Team will add some depth on defense to help out the offense.
Chicago Bears- Jaelan Phillips (EDGE-Miami): The Bears say Andy Dalton is their quarterback and I am going to believe that. Because of that, the Bears will pick up someone on defense who will make an impact the minute he steps on the field.
Indianapolis Colts- Greg Newsome II (CB-Northwestern): A top three corner in college football last year and now the Colts will land a stud who has played against some of college’s best receivers.
Tennessee Titans- Kwity Paye (EDGE-Michigan): The Titans need help on defense badly and now with Clowney gone the Titans will pick up an edge rusher who they hope will fill a gap.
New York Jets- Azeez Ojulari(EDGE-Georgia): The Jets picked up their quarterback and while they might want to help Wilson on offense they will decide to get some help on defense.
Pittsburgh Steelers- Travis Etienne (RB-Clemson): After losing James Conner to the Cardinals the Steelers will go ahead and pick up their replacement.
Jacksonville Jaguars- Rashod Bateman (WR-Minnesota): The Jaguars picked their quarterback of the future and while they could get someone to protect him instead they go ahead and get him a good wide receiver.
Cleveland Browns- Christan Barmore (DT-Alabama): The Browns will add another player to a very strong defensive line that includes Myles Garret and Jadeveon Clowney.
Baltimore Ravens- Trevon Moehrig (S-TCU): The Ravens do need a wide receiver and while that might be a smart pick here, this year's wide receivers class is stacked, so instead the Ravens will decide to get some help on defense.
New Orleans Saints- Zaven Collins (LB-Tulsa): There are reports that the Saints are interested in Kyle Trask but it is too early for him to go so instead they will pick up a linebacker who will make an impact the minute he steps onto the field.
Green Bay Packers- Eric Stokes (CB-Georgia): The Packers lost the NFC Championship off of a pass interference call on one of their cornerbacks. Now they pick up a cornerback who will make an impact the minute he steps onto the field.
Buffalo Bills- Kadarius Toney (WR-Florida): The Bills lost two receivers and will fill the void with a solid wide receiver.
Kansas City Chiefs- Landon Dickerson (OT-Alabama): The Chiefs need to update their offensive line after their horrible Super Bowl performance. While there are some injury concerns he was shown doing cartwheels during Alabama pro day.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Jamin Davis (LB-Kentucky): The Bucs will pick up some depth as they hope to make another run at the Super Bowl.
