The Royal We vs The Heir Affair

Let’s begin with The Royal We. We all know the classic fairytale of a girl who falls madly in love with a prince and they live happily ever after in their palace together. What if falling in love with the prince wasn’t quite so simple? This book takes place in London, England at Oxford University where Bex Porter, an American college student, decides to transfer. She is greeted at the door of her temporary home by a boy named Nick. But he’s not just some regular handsome, young, British boy, no, he is in fact the prince of England. Bex and Nick take some time but eventually get close. They spend every night binge eating whatever American food Nick’s security can find on the streets of London and watching whatever new show looks interesting to them. But their relationship is completely platonic; I mean, Bex is semi-going out with Nick’s best friend. Furthermore, Nick can’t afford to fall in love, especially not with some American commoner. Nevertheless, there is a saying that, “Love has no bounds” and for these two, those words could not be more true. Watch Nick and Bex navigate their way through an almost impossibly difficult relationship but somehow make it all worth it. This book is, if not my favorite, one of my very favorite novels that I have ever read. It’s full of romance, comedy, drama, and the serious issues that you can’t quite get around when you fall in love with a prince.

Now let's talk about the sequel, the heir affair. We all have dreams about our wedding days and walking down the aisle. The beautiful bouquets. The white dresses. The fancy cake. And the perfect person. Nick and Bex didn’t quite have that experience, though plain old Nick and plain old Bex were always so perfect for one another, so steady, so in love. Prince Nicholas, first in line for the throne, and Bex Porter, newly the Duchess of Wales are two completely different people. Join Bex as she navigates her way through being the wife of none other but the monarch's grandson and come along as she learns how to be in love with a man who carries more baggage than an entire airport the week before Christmas. Is it still worth it? Does love really conquer all? Buy this book on Amazon, Audible, or if you have one, your Kindle to find out!

Comparison

These are both incredible novels and difficult to compare considering they are two parts to the same thrilling story. The Royal We focuses more on the relationship of Bex and Nick. It gives you the story of how they meet, their first years together, and how they fell in love. It is definitely more of a romance and with some heartbreaking turns. I would personally say that it also brings more tears than The Heir Affair. However, this does not take away from the brilliant sequel. The Heir Affair focuses on the hardships of being a part of the monarchy and how truly difficult falling for a prince is. If you are more of a sucker for a good love story then you will not sleep reading The Royal We. If you prefer the drama of a crazy, screwed up family, then you will spend every extra minute with your nose in The Heir Affair. Of course you cannot read one without reading the other and I strongly suggest both of these juicy (Young Adult) novels!
